The pcb is essentially the brain of the boiler, installed with routines to operate the boiler it was built for. Every action that occurs is monitored carefully by the PCB. A network of wires and sensors relay information and allow the pcb to access live readings and adjust accordingly. Safety is paramount, so the PCB can restrict operation at a moments notice if it detects an error or safety concern.
