The Ariston Genus 23 Mffi Uk Ng - Jan 1999 combination boilers and water heaters use a rubber diaphragm to trigger the domestic hot water by diverting the primary water circuit to the plate heat exchanger. This gives hot water to the taps or perhaps shower. One side with the diaphragm is subject to indirect heat via the hot water in the primary circuit flowing through the hydraulic set up. This design is common in combination boilers and other water heating appliances. In case a diaphragm has failed the boiler won't switch easily between supplying water to the hot taps and providing central heating. In this instance it will need replacing. Many heating engineers will recommend replacing the whole hydraulic section.
