The Alpha 240p combination boilers and water heaters use a rubber diaphragm to trigger the domestic hot water by diverting the primary water circuit towards the plate heat exchanger. This allows hot water to the taps or perhaps shower. One side of the diaphragm is subject to indirect heat via the hot water in the primary circuit flowing through the hydraulic set up. This design is common in combination boilers and other water heating appliances. In case a diaphragm has failed the boiler it won't switch easily between supplying water to the hot taps and providing central heating. In this situation it'll need swapping. Many heating engineers will recommend swapping the entire hydraulic section. This is not necessary as the boiler manufacturer usually supply the specific part and the unit will function correctly after the diaphragm is replaced., Alpha Diaphragms Are Available Next Working Day
